Our work

From waste to electricity... and flying on water... to power where you want it...

Barkston is working with a number of energy companies on ongoing developments including: developmental work, providing design advice and welded plastic components with internal joints to seal chambers to consistently meet necessary and exacting high specifications, avoiding vibration damage and providing guaranteed seals. These components will be used as part of a hydrogen fuel cell which ultimately converts waste hydrogen from the chlorine industry into electricity, rather than going into the atmosphere.

We are also involved in other green energy initiatives such as manufacturing and welding of all plastic parts to produce Flow Batteries which enable energy to be absorbed from wind farms and stored; putting together the hydrogen fuel tanks which will help the government’s directive for London’s taxis to become greener in time for the 2012 Olympic Games; creating fuel tanks for an aircraft to run off water – though only a 2 seaters so far! Our expertise in the energy sector is being used to help other clients to develop small electricity generating fuel cells to be used in jackets and backpacks of army soldiers ensuring they have power when out in combat and an electronics client to provide switch gear to go into power stations and sub stations.

Barkston is currently working with both new energy customers and long standing customers of 30 years.
